Traditionally, the nest is associated with the place where life begins, with security. It symbolizes the cycle of life, the continuity of generations and home. In my work, I recreate the traditional shape of the nest using natural materials, but include plastic, which due to its synthetic nature does not evoke the same feelings of warmth and safety.
Can plastic as a material (and its properties - hardness, texture and association with pollution, danger to nature) potentially alter a person's emotional connection to even a vibrant and recognizable symbol?
